Carvin French: Carvin French was cofounded in New York in 1953 by Frenchmen Andre Chervin and Serge Carponcy. The friends and business partners combined their names, Car for Carponcy and vin for Chervin, adding French in homage to their beloved homeland, to create Carvin French. The classically trained French jewelers were skilled craftsman and master enamellists that constructed each piece by hand using only the finest materials. Their standard of excellence in artistry gained such fame that Carvin French was soon commissioned to produce pieces for premier jewelry houses internationally. Affectionately referred to as the "Jeweller's jeweller”, Carvin French manufactured state-of-the-art jewels sold by Cartier, Verdura, Bulgari, Black Star & Frost, Van Cleef & Arpels, Claflin and Harry Winston to name a few. After Serge Carponcy retired in 1983, Andre Chervin maintained control of the firm, moving it from East Fifty-second Street to the current address at 515 Madison Avenue in 1987 where it remains today.
