Designed by Omega to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the first moon landing on the 20th July 1969, this model was designed in consultation with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. This watch, number 11 of 7969 was gifted by Omega direct to Buzz Aldrin. It has been worn a small number of times but Buzz, and has been consigned direct from his personal collection.

The international warranty card is stamped with the jeweler as Omega SA, March 2009

The Apollo 11 "Eagle" mission patch is stamped on the case back along with the words, "THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON", the limited edition number (0000/7969), and "July 21, 1969", the date Armstrong and Aldrin first stepped onto the moon's surface at 02:56, the time which is printed on the dial.

In 2009, OMEGA reached out to Buzz Aldrin with an interest in working together to promote the launch of OMEGA's Apollo 11 "40th Anniversary" Speedmaster - a limited edition watch commemorating Aldrin's historic 1969 moonwalk and the Speedmaster worn by Aldrin on the surface of the moon. Honored to do so, Aldrin took on the role of Ambassador spokesman for the OMEGA brand and has continued in this role since 2009 to the present. A core highlight in this evolving role was the 40th Anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing on July 20, 2009, at which time OMEGA issued the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo 11 "40th Anniversary" Limited Edition and presented the same to Buzz Aldrin. This watch is an iconic replication of the original Speedmaster worn by Aldrin during his moonwalk (as seen in the iconic "Visor" photo of Aldrin on the moon). The design is enhanced with an artistic rendering of the Apollo 11 mission patch of the eagle about to land on the moon carved into the face of the watch.

The OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch Apollo 11 "40th Anniversary" Limited Edition is delivered in a black presentation box which also includes a 42 mm sterling silver medal (the same diameter as the watch) featuring an engraving of the mission patch on one side with the words "APOLLO 11, 40th ANNIVERSARY". On the reverse side, the medal is engraved, "THE EAGLE HAS LANDED"; "LAUNCHED JULY 16 1969"; "LANDED JULY 20, 1969"; and "RETURNED, JULY 24, 1969" along with OMEGA's name and logo. Also in the presentation box is a certificate of authenticity and an envelope containing a black polishing cloth printed with information commemorating the historic space flight.

The Apollo 11 "Eagle" mission patch is stamped on the caseback along with the words, "THE FIRST WATCH WORN ON THE MOON", the limited edition number (0000/7969), and "July 21, 1969", the date Armstrong and Aldrin first stepped onto the moon's surface at 02:56 GMT, the time which is printed on the dial.
